Nigel is a Technical Director with AQC and joined the company in 2018 and has more than 20 years’ experience in the field of air quality. Nigel has a proven track record in delivering, managing and directing complex air quality and odour projects for both the public and private sectors. Nigel is one of the leading experts in Clean Air Zone (CAZ) assessment work, and is the technical lead for both Birmingham City Council and Greater Manchester studies. He has been involved with CAZ feasibility work, leading collaborations between Highways England, Defra and the Department for Transport to rapidly determine the impacts of city scale CAZs, for all vehicle types. He provided technical oversight of the independent air quality assessments for the potential expansion of Heathrow and Gatwick for the Airports Commission as part of the Davies Commission report, and has delivered air quality assessments for a range of high profile major infrastructure projects including road transport, nuclear and pipeline schemes.
Nigel has previously been seconded to Highways England, SEPA and industry during his career. During his time at HE, he was responsible for technical management of R&D projects investigating novel mitigation for transport related pollution, development of DMRB guidance and tools including Interim Advice Notes, and strategic advice on schemes and policy.
The general performance of AQC for our project was excellent, and the speed of responses particularly impressive.

Air Quality Consultants has provided technical air quality support for the Bath Clean Air Zone (CAZ), which was the first to be implemented outside of London.
Air Quality Consultants formed part of the project team that achieved outline planning approval, in 2011, from Lewisham Council, for the regeneration of Surrey Canal, a 30 ha site surrounding Millwall FC’s New Den Stadium.
Air Quality Consultants collaborated with the Institute of Occupational Medicine to provide evidence to the Greater London Authority.
Air Quality Consultants and its sister company Noise Consultants have written, and assisted in consultation events for, an SPD for Runnymede Borough Council on Environmental Protection which covers air quality and noise.
